With a creaking groan on Saturday morning, the stasis bay door finally opens up, revealing a broad, clean hallway and a lit sign overhead that says WELCOME TO THE CSS EUDORA. Lining the walls, you'll find that there are square lockers to grab your non-sentient belongings that weren't inside of your cold sleep pod (your home item and two changes of clothes from your canon). Along with those, you will find that your belongings have been carefully set inside of a sleek, black courier bag, nestled in among a few welcome gifts waiting for you! Upon opening it up, you'll find the following items to use as you see fit:

🪐 A luxurious eyemask, to block out the haters (and any solar flares)
🪐 A handkerchief, with hand-stitched embroidery.
🪐 A mini radio that plays some old tunes from the 90s and back, it also works as a bluetooth speaker for I.R.I.S.
🪐 A moon lamp, to provide some comforting light
🪐 A simple, but useful, multi-tool, closed when you find it
🪐 A small, refillable medical kit, pre-packed for your potential bumps and bruises (1 minor heal)
🪐 A few packets of freeze-dried fruit, to chase away the immediate munchies
🪐 A mini craft cocktail kit, to drink away your troubles (made into a mocktail kit if you are below 21)

Take your time to familiarize yourself with your new surroundings and freshen up in the communal bathroom that's been made available. You will also find that your living quarters have been neatly arranged along a hallway, just waiting for you to find your name on the door—meet your roommate!

Why, you can even enjoy an informative slideshow presentation that plays in the mess hall on all of the screens! It might not be a very big one, but the world of the CSS Eudora is your oyster for a few hours. There's plenty of time between the auspicious announcement and 1500 hours for you to get to know your fellow junior crewmates.

Welcome to the second part of our introductory weekend, this time featuring some of your new home and a few special surprises. Have a look around your brand new home, and if you have any questions, we will field them in the server.

🚀 Your I.R.I.S. and you! Characters will find that their I.R.I.S. communications device is now up and fully functioning. There are quite a few features for you to explore, including crew member profiles. Why not have a look and see just what kind of information has been compiled about you? And who exactly you're working with. The I.R.I.S. itself also comes witih a handy dandy guide explaining all of its fun features.

🚀 Some things to look out for include two events that will occur today and tomorrow. The first event will begin on (2/24) - 12PM PST | 3PM EST, and the second event will follow on (2/25) - 12PM PST | 3PM EST, so stay tuned for a ping in the server. [ he’s at least changed back into his normal outfit, including his headphones, and he’s sitting at a table out of the way while watching the slideshow with a fairly incredulous expression. that does not seem to be stopping him from taking notes on I.R.I.S, occasionally scrolling back to make sure he’s writing everything correctly and shoving some dry cereal in his mouth with the other hand. roboji the robot is also here, parked at the side of the table and observing as well. but he does eventually mumble: ]

[ you can also find him up on the observation deck with roboji. he’s already grabbed the multi-tool from their welcome kit, and he seems to be doing a little bit of maintenance on the robot. he’s facing the window and seems to be concentrating on what he’s doing, but deck is big enough? don’t mind him. ]

[ scien what did you do. it's the fact that he's staticy that has shoma actually looking at him, lifting an eyebrow curiously. also dana what is the state of his arm, is the sleeve still floppy.

Roboji. [ he has mentioned it to a few people, and the profiles are public now so he doesn't mind sharing it. ] The first one I made was called Robota.

How long ago did you make Robota? Was it meant to serve the same function?

[ fair. where the hell is his arm. my god. ]

Um...a few years ago? [ he was babier, it's never explicitly said but he probably started around 10 or so. ] But yeah. I wanted to try and build a robot of my own, and the one-wheeled design seemed like a challenge. Robota needed a control to move and could only lift about 45 pounds, but Roboji's gone beyond that.

scien will turn briefly to examine roboji in thought, but then he'll close his eyes after. sneepy. it might seem for a second like the convo's over abruptly but eventually - ]

[like a busybody, charles walks up to him and roboji, crouching down a bit to look at roboji again.]

[ hi charles! that's me, because shoma does not seem to acknowledge him right away. it's possible he can't hear him seeing as he has his headphones on. but he's tinkering away at something in the robot's back.

roboji, at least, recognizes this man and waves. hello! ]

Hey there, little guy. [roboji is not that small but it's smaller than charles and most golems which is what charles is seeing it as.] Getting a check-up, huh?

[chats with roboji instead]

... [ this man is so determined to talk, huh. roboji rolls a little on its wheel, but shoma allows it as his hands move higher up on its back. the robot can't properly communicate, but does seem to understand shoma's working on it and does not go further.

...but. charles wasn't the worst yesterday, so. ]

I wanted to make sure all of its panels and components were in place after being in stasis for a while. I don't have all of the right tools, but this will work for now.

What tools do you need? Not that I know much, as we've established, but I can keep an eye out anyway.

[shoma is so diligent. meanwhile, harley skimming through the presentation and angrily shoving space jerky in her mouth because she can't even yeet her phone in frustration! it's inside her!!!]

Right? I wanted to take the weekend off, not get human trafficked across space.

[ listen he would rather know what he's getting into than be surprised later and if that means having to sit through this stupid presentation a few times, so be it. ]

Does anyone ever want to get human trafficked...? [ dryly. ]

Of course not. [a beat. she squints into the middle distance.] Unless...? Actually, never mind. That's besides the point.

Saying "unless" and then "never mind" does not make that any less concerning.

Observation Deck

[Now that's fascinating. It's not often you see a kid of Shoma's age handling a robot like this one with familiarity. Sora approaches calmly, watching him work for a moment]

This robot is your personal belonging, isn't it?

[Instead of something he found that belongs to the spaceship, she means]

[ he doesn't reply immediately, focused on what he's doing at the moment. the robot is listed on his profile, so he does not think he has to confirm. and so he works.

but roboji at least acknowledges someone has addressed them and it swivels slightly, raising a hand in a wave. hello. welcome to the deck. ]

[Forcing things to open when it's in a spaceship is unwise, but something more capable of using strength than the average human could be of use]

Why do you ask? [ for shoma it's fine for him to volunteer the information when he wants to, but he's always a little more cautious when someone outright asks for specifics. ]

To be aware of the resources available that don't rely on the company keeping us captive, of course. You never know when something is needed.

[Well, it also is that Sora doesn't want to let her fate be dependant on what Nut & Bolt Co. Provides, because she wants a measure of control over her situation.

If it makes you feel better, I won't think of your robot as the immediate first solution to solve anything, since it's yours instead of something freely accessible.

[ Turns out that Yuri is Shoma's roommate and she's at Room 009, finally putting the black courier bag down on the ground. Phew. She starts taking things out of it, such as the moon lamp that goes on her desk. Since there seems to be two of most things except the bed, she'll place her things on one half of the small room. ]

It's not big, but it's cozier than I thought... I hope my roommate will be a decent person.

[ Yuri seems to be very organized too, making sure her half of the room is neat and the things are put away in appropriate drawers. Medkit goes there, multi-tool goes here... dried fruit packs go in the desk drawer so she can have easy access for snacking if she needs to. ]

[ she's so cute and so thoughtful. it's very nice, honestly. not that her roommate has any idea what's going on, and for a while yuri actually is alone. whoever she's rooming with doesn't seem to come back for some time.

but somewhere around the time she's done unpacking everything and getting settled in, the door will swing open and roboji wheels into the room ahead of shoma. the boy turns to shut the door, not entirely thinking much about this whole rooming thing, but when he looks up and sees her he pauses. ]

Oh. [ oh. he's more surprised than anything. ] ...Yuri, right?

[ Yuri thought she would have been alone longer, so when the door suddenly opens with Roboji wheeling in, she's nearly startled. ]

Yes. Shoma and Roboji.

[ It's hard to forget a genuine robot that isn't made for survival. Kinda. She quietly sighs in relief though. She's so glad her roommate is not a nutjob. ]

It looks like I'll be your roommate.

[solesuccess]

[ he seems to relax a little when she confirms she remembers them, though now that they're here he's really thinking over the situation. right. roommates. ]

Better than the pods. [ there are definitely worse people that he could be stuck with. yuri seems nice enough (if a little nervous?) and that benefits him perfectly fine. he has not noticed the bed situation yet because he's moving to the other desk to set down his bag. ] I'll try to be a decent one then.

[ it's been a while since he's shared a space with anyone, but...it can't be that hard. ]

[ Yuri has long since noticed the single bed, and she's honestly not fretting about it too much. She knows she can keep her hands to herself, but sleeping with someone else on the bed might take some getting used to. Hell, sleeping on a comfortable (ymmv) bed like this would need adjustment time. ]
