Good morning, junior crew. With the heavy news of last night carrying into Saturday morning, things are incredibly quiet around the CSS Eudora. You may carry on with your personal business during the morning, but come 11:00, a soothing voice will cut into the air and announce that at 12:00 everyone must report to "the Conference Hall." Strange, however, that it's not on the map.
Never fear, your I.R.I.S. will automatically project a small beam of warm, orange light on the ground, directing you towards a large gated lift that has risen from the floor by the mess hall. Come 11:50, if you aren't on the lift, you will certainly find yourself moving there physically whether you intend it or not. The lift is capable of carrying every occupant of the Eudora to a sublevel that leads towards the mentioned Conference Hall.
The enormous hall opens up past two large, double doors with the word EUDORA printed over it. Within, a lengthy monitor sprawls across the entirety of it, displaying Thursday night's victims profiles along with a large map of the Eudora herself. With plush, dark seats in rows and a long table at the head of the room where four members of your senior crew await, it is clear what exactly this space is for, especially as the words TRIAL IN SESSION appear on the monitor and an ominous-looking countdown:

Welcome to your first trial! Over the course of the next nine hours, characters will have the opportunity to discuss, investigate and theorize about Dahut's murder. Characters will have time to examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations.
There will be a mod-tag break between 4 PM EST / 1 PM PST to 5 PM EST / 2 PM PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.
Finally, we have a voting page for characters to vote on the culprit! Please be sure that your vote is in by the time trial finishes at 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST, unless you've spoken with the mods previously, as we'll begin tallying votes on the dot. Voting is mandatory for Spacecoast, acting as our weekly activity check in this game.
Good luck!

Hey! Quick question. What the fuck?
no subject
Where exactly do you want us to begin on that one? [ not unkindly, just. that is all encompassing? ] Dahut died through unnatural means, and people expressed that they wanted to help - we've never had this happen, before, so we're going with what protocols we can to ensure that we get an answer for him.
Luke... [ looking at io then up at her. ] Died before we were all incapacitated.
no subject
... Shit. So he really had a heart attack or something? I heard he started feeling sick and tried to grab something from his pocket the other night.
[life alert failed him... but, well, can't do anything if he really died from medical complications. dahut, on the other hand...]
Remember when I told ya the ship should've been junked and you said it wasn't that serious yet?
no subject
[ life alert sure did fail him, but it's looking to be the case. ]
Aged like milk, right? [ wryly ]
no subject
[GOD. she sucks on her teeth.]
Hey, we tried to tell you this whole thing was shady as fuck. So, what does this mean for the rest of the tour?
no subject
[ why are you apologizing for this! (really they're apologizing for everything) ]
That... probably depends on the outcome of this situation. If we can apprehend the party involved, the tour will likely continue since we've already contracted for our deliveries. If we don't, we might have to dock more longterm at Strihira once we've arrived in orbit.
no subject
Are you shitting me? Two people died, and we still don't get to pack it up and go home? Fucking capitalism. [DISAPPOINTED BUT NOT SURPRISED...] So, say we have to dock longterm at Strihara. What are we gonna do there besides make our deliveries?
no subject
Wish I wasn't. You definitely wouldn't be forced to work, and I honestly wouldn't blame anyone that just bummed around until we can finally get you guys home. But we don't have any means of taking you ourselves.
I'll look into if Strihira has any means of teleportation or crafts that would be heading to your respective galaxies, though. But you would just be able to freely come and go, I imagine.

I promised Rosamund I would find out if anyone on board had experience with teleportation, whether as a magic or a science. If we can find out that a planet already has that ability, I want to see if we can utilize it instead of having to wait for something to be made or for the nanites to resolve the power "anomalies" - regardless of the outcome of this case.
There's not many of you who want to be here. Some of you, maybe... [ looking at where dahut's ... well, partial body is. ] We want you to go home, instead of be unhappy here.
no subject
When you say "experience," you mean someone who's used it before? Or, uh, someone who actually gets how it works? Because if you just need to know about a planet that's already figured it out...
no subject
None of us have any expertise with either, save for the warp that we can do while aboard the ship. But that's programmed into our nanites.

I don't, either. But I'm going to try and at least get something.
