With a creaking groan on Saturday morning, the stasis bay door finally opens up, revealing a broad, clean hallway and a lit sign overhead that says WELCOME TO THE CSS EUDORA. Lining the walls, you'll find that there are square lockers to grab your non-sentient belongings that weren't inside of your cold sleep pod (your home item and two changes of clothes from your canon). Along with those, you will find that your belongings have been carefully set inside of a sleek, black courier bag, nestled in among a few welcome gifts waiting for you! Upon opening it up, you'll find the following items to use as you see fit:

🪐 A luxurious eyemask, to block out the haters (and any solar flares)
🪐 A handkerchief, with hand-stitched embroidery.
🪐 A mini radio that plays some old tunes from the 90s and back, it also works as a bluetooth speaker for I.R.I.S.
🪐 A moon lamp, to provide some comforting light
🪐 A simple, but useful, multi-tool, closed when you find it
🪐 A small, refillable medical kit, pre-packed for your potential bumps and bruises (1 minor heal)
🪐 A few packets of freeze-dried fruit, to chase away the immediate munchies
🪐 A mini craft cocktail kit, to drink away your troubles (made into a mocktail kit if you are below 21)

Take your time to familiarize yourself with your new surroundings and freshen up in the communal bathroom that's been made available. You will also find that your living quarters have been neatly arranged along a hallway, just waiting for you to find your name on the door—meet your roommate!

Why, you can even enjoy an informative slideshow presentation that plays in the mess hall on all of the screens! It might not be a very big one, but the world of the CSS Eudora is your oyster for a few hours. There's plenty of time between the auspicious announcement and 1500 hours for you to get to know your fellow junior crewmates.

Welcome to the second part of our introductory weekend, this time featuring some of your new home and a few special surprises. Have a look around your brand new home, and if you have any questions, we will field them in the server.

🚀 Your I.R.I.S. and you! Characters will find that their I.R.I.S. communications device is now up and fully functioning. There are quite a few features for you to explore, including crew member profiles. Why not have a look and see just what kind of information has been compiled about you? And who exactly you're working with. The I.R.I.S. itself also comes witih a handy dandy guide explaining all of its fun features.

🚀 Some things to look out for include two events that will occur today and tomorrow. [IMMEDIATELY BEELINES TOWARDS CLEAN. Despite being a ye olde she figures out the basics of space plumbing rather shortly. You can hear ~*~Melodic Singing~*~ from one of the stalls as Rosamund cleanses herself of blood and assorted grime.]

[Later, changed into her usual ripped and bloodied gown (which makes the briars growing out of her body immediately obvious, RIP), Rosamund has both hands on the glass of the observation deck, staring into deep space.]

I can't believe it...this ship is in the sky?


C) IRIS/Lounge

[In the lounge she has pulled up with a drink (virgin piña colada) and is studiously flipping through the profiles. It's alarming, but not half so bad as she was expecting. Though some of these skillsets...

You may catch her peering surreptitiously at you before returning to the screen. Very suspicious.]

[ this girl and her blood. and her briars. yikes! that's interesting enough to catch temenos' attention, though he wasn't too far away, admiring the outside view in his own right. he hums, hands clasped behind his back, and offers a smile before he turns his gaze back to the stars. ]

Apparently so. One might think we'd run into the realm of the gods, at this rate.

Slowly shrinking back from the window, hahaha. No thank you.]

That would really be something! [She laughs. It's perfectly normal.] I shouldn't like to draw too much of their attention though. You don't suppose that's a real possibility. Do you?

[ hmmm. without turning to look back at her: ]

Anything interesting?

[What should come out of her mouth is something light. Polite! She's been caught in the act, better not stick her foot in it further. He's into the theatre! That seems interesting!]

[ no no, its a fair enough question. he sort of laughs, making a gesture off his temple like it's a joke. non-threatening and easy. ]

I'm so sorry for being rude. I just haven't felt so unmoored in...well, it wasn't that long ago. But still! This is a new level of strange, even for me. I was only trying to learn a little more about everything.

I mean, reasonably speaking, anything might be possible. [She drifts off, staring into the inky night.] I've seen so many strange things. Maybe this should have been simple. Or obvious. But it still feels like a miracle of its own.

... Well, when you put it like that, I guess that's true. Rationally, there are other things insane enough that this should seem mundane, but—yeah, it's still pretty awe-inspiring.

Higher than just the sky. It's the vastness of what's beyond the world.

How can what's beyond the world be so... [Her fingers flex against the glass.] Empty.

It's like there's nothing but blank pages at the end of a book.

It's said humanity is a miracle, that it happened because of a series of fortunate coincidences. It may look empty out there, but take solace in the fact we're not floating all alone. There's people out there, even if they're not like humans.

Oh, I don't mind the inhuman. Some of my best friends aren't human anymore, or they never were at all. [She smiles back at the woman, feeling more than a little wistful.]

It's the space between us that makes me sad. I've been to unimaginable places before, but this feels like....like we've been set on a whole different map.

Oh, I don't know. I think I'm just repeating the same point with different words.

[She lets her forehead thunk against the glass. Eyes closed, deep breath in. Deep breath out.]
