WEEK 5: MINGLE

WEEK 5     32 CREW ACTIVE
Gravity is a habit that is hard to shake off.

WELCOME TO VOLK 92-B

With the heavy mood of the previous week still hanging over the CSS Eudora, it might be difficult to move on with business as usual, and that's okay. Loss is a completely natural part of life, and grief is always close behind. However, a few hours into a routine morning aboard the Eudora, a gentle tone fills the air, reverberating off of the walls of the Eudora herself. A synthetic voice fills the halls not long after: Entering planet atmosphere, gravity tethers engaging. Stabilizing descension rate. Stabilizing... stabilization complete.

Your fifth dropoff is really turning up the heat. On the horizon, Planet Volk 92-B rises. The observation deck allows everyone to watch as warm light and great gouts of steam pour fourth from the broken surface of the planet. Black shuttles zip to and fro along the surface like great, black beetles, crawling into each crevasse below. A monolith in the center opens wide, it's maw broad and glowing orange as it welcomes the Eudora forward and swallows it whole.

A message from the address seniorcrew@eudora.net pings you in the middle of whatever it is you happen to be doing at 1200 hours. If you're still somehow sleeping, that ping is definitely loud enough to cut through your sweetest dreams and to rouse you from sleep. There is no way to reply to it, so suffer as it opens itself up and reads:
ATTENTION JUNIOR CREW!
Good morning, Junior Crew. Reports of unusual metallic erythema spreading throughout random parts of the body have reached us as of 0400 hours. We've run the necessary tests to ensure that this is not a pathogenic outbreak. Please take care, as these metallic rashes while harmless on their own, can become painful if touched by another party. - Senior Crew
Following the ping is a notification coming from your I.R.I.S. indicating that there are a few new locations that have unlocked aboard the CSS Eudora and the enrichment concourse. If you have any questions or concerns, you'll find that your Senior Crew is available to take your meeting requests. Their callsigns are lit up at the bottom of your contacts list so text away.

With a new week, comes a new change of scenery. Characters will find a few supplies already in their locker to help in navigating the planet itself:

⚙️ The A.R.G.O. (Agile Reconnaissance Gravimetric Overlay) to navigate beneath the crushing gravity on this planet
⚙️ Climbing gear including rope, carabiners, crampons, and climbing gloves
⚙️ A jar of pain cream for your joints with a faint, pleasant eucalyptus scent for the rigors of the planet's gravity on your body
Hello, Junior Crew, and welcome to your week 5 mingle! Here are a few things to get you started:

⚠️ Upon waking this week, the crew will find that some of their past injuries have come back to haunt them in a very unique way. Wherever any major or minor injuries once were, large swaths of greasy rust will appear in their place, no matter how old or scarred over they may be. These rusty spots cannot be greased away or healed via the pods, but the good thing is that they don't seem to hurt or really take a toll the crew at all aside from looking gross and leaving stains around and about. They seem fairly harmless until they are touched, resulting in both parties feeling the pain from the moment the wound was inflicted.

🪐 Pick up some supplies. Head on over to Scrap's Surplus Store or visit Omega Mart for a fun little freebie.
🪐 Audiences are open. Please submit all audience requests for the week under the proper header here.
🪐 The HER-MES System is online. Send a message out into deep space here.
🪐 Murder proposals are open. Please submit all proposals (and counter proposals) here by Tuesday, per the times on the post.
🪐 Don't forget your CYOAs. Please head over to Missions to sign up for a variety of CYOAs or to run one of your own.
🪐 Please turn in your PCs for the week. Submit your links under the proper header here.

...yeah, that does sound pretty nice. Better than isolatin' yourself in your room.

I'm just used to a small crew and a smaller ship. That's all.

It's not a 'ship' so much, but me too. There's 24 of us in all, if ya count the Sage, Cock Robin, and his wife.

And you all stick close by, usually?

That's the funny thing, we didn't used to before the current sage arrived. The whole "live in the same manor" thing was their idea. I was still stuck in prison too, so they would let me out just long enough to fight the Great Calamity and then shove me back in my cell again. And everyone else would go their own ways too, and not really talk except when the Great Calamity appeared.

But I think this change is for the better. We're slowly learning to live with each other. And like half of the wizards are still in their 'human years' too, so they offer a fresh perspective and more patience.

That... sounds like too many people for one manor.

It's okay, everyone has their own room AND we still have empty rooms.

That's better than the alternative, but still...

Most of 'em get along. The Centrals, Souths, and Wests. The Easts like keepin' to themselves though, and the Norths are bad at cooperating.

Wow, stereotyping...

It's not stereotyping, it's just how they are. In Eastern Country the humans hate and fear witches and wizards, so witches and wizards have to either hide their magic or be shunned by humans. That's why the Eastern wizards are so recluse and don't open up easily.
