A few hours after the first ping, a second ping reverberates from your I.R.I.S. even in the MetaWorld, and another message window pops up, unprompted, forcing users to read it before it can be dismissed.
We were the highest bidders for the Tesseract, but a group named Labs-R-Us... R standing for Rats, outbid us. I don't know who they are, but we need the Tesseract. Take them down.

"Nut & Bolt has established Auction by Paintball against Labs-R-Us! We will begin the competition immediately."
Venus announces this with a velvety, voice that swallows up the venue. She gestures with a clawed hand to look forward to the stage, which is where she’ll present all Nut & Bolt employees and Labs-R-Us employees.
RULES OF THE PAINT (BALLS)
While abilities, including won items from the auctions, are active, they all become paint-related in this arena.
Did you have a gun that did a specific thing before? It shoots paint now. You won a supercomputer? You can hack people to paint themselves if you have enough time. You won an item that is supposed to let you tap into an alternate version of yourself that was a mariachi mafia leader? That mariachi mafia leader is now an expert at paintball.
Points are counted by how many shots are successfully made on the enemy (we will not be counting, this is a flavor rule).
The arena melds into different types of obstacle courses during the battle, as an example. In general, imagine the game Fall Guys or some mix of Mario Party. While the obstacles can be used to your advantage for cover, they're also your enemy. Some items move and stun you, some smack you down into random holes that show up in the arena and put you outside, some bonk you, some block you out completely making you useless, sometimes there's a giant Indiana Jones boulder that decides to drop into the arena and roll around to crush players. Feel free to make up different types of obstacles!
Speaking of obstacles, sometimes your teammates look like the enemy. Distractions and friendly fire are meant to make this a challenge!
The Tesseract is being thrown about in the arena. Anyone who catches it will be imbued with extra paintball power and fury! Interpret this how you want, but it makes them more powerful as they hold onto it. If you're from Labs-R-Us (or look like them for a second), holding it means the Senior Crew will be focused on you.
Death works differently in the arena. Characters respawn outside of the arena within minutes and murder isn't penalized. It however does not give you points.
Murderous rage is not encouraged. If displayed, everyone in the crowd will boo and shame you. Your most embarrassing secrets will also be broadcasted.
